“I would much rather have the blue band of the Medal of Honor around my neck than to be President of the United States” – Harry S. Truman (33rd U.S. President)
The United States Congress has designated March 25th of each year as National Medal of Honor Day, a day dedicated to Medal of Honor recipients. On March 25, 1863, the first Medals of Honor were presented to the six members of Andrews’ Raiders.
