Tech Tuesday: New Design & Modeling Tools Used To Access Larger Solar Markets

#TechTuesday

It’s Tech Tuesday and in recent headlines we have been reading how the residential solar market has been outpacing the commercial side. However, there is light at the end of the tunnel with companies like: HelioScope and Energy Toolbase who have created design and modeling tools to make the often ignored commercial solar market more accessible to all.

Design & Modeling Tools

HelioScope:  Is an advanced photovoltaic (PV) system design tool that integrates system layout and performance modeling to simplify the process of engineering and selling solar projects. It allows engineers to quickly evaluate potential sites, analyze design decisions, and streamline project workflow. Click here to learn more.

Energy Toolbase: Is a tool that allows you to model and propose any type of project, for any type of customer, using a variety of options with regards to financing. Tech Tuesday: MILSPRAY’s Ballistic Resistant System™ – Protecting Those * Protecting Us

44 Rounds

The patent pending MILSPRAY’s Ballistic Resistant System™ is specifically designed for standard Municipal and State police vehicles. Adding only 32-44 pounds per door*, the Ballistic Resistant System™ offers Underwriter’s Laboratories (UL) Level-III protection. It is designed for a high level of protection with easy installation at a low cost. The system meets National Institute of Justice (NIJ) as well as UL standards for ballistic resistance and undergoes a series of quality controls and testing in accordance with the standard NIJ test protocol.

MILSPRAY’s Ballistic Resistant System™ consists of a network of panels that may be installed by almost anyone with general knowledge of hand tools. They are installed within the interior of the vehicle door panels, thus hidden from sight and do not interfere with the inner mechanics or appearance of the door. There are no vehicle modifications required. This type of NIJ/UL ballistic protection is easily attainable even with limited municipal/township level budgets.

* Weight estimation only; actual weight will vary based on make and model of the vehicle.

Later this year, MILSPRAY’s 501(c)(3) charitable foundation, In The Spirit of Giving Foundation, will sponsor the “Protecting Those * Protecting Us” GoFundMe Crowdfunding Campaign.

The campaign will raise funds to install over 5,000 Ballistic Resistant System™ for law enforcement agencies nationwide.

Good afternoon! On this Tech Tuesday, we want to talk about those elusive characters that are often discussed in movies, those piles of parts that are at the brink of being unleashed into today’s mainstream society, otherwise, known as “Robots”.

Over the past couple of months there have been quite a few headlines pertaining to what progress is being made in the modern “Robot” age. There is a new generation of robot that is being worked on that will have much more freedom than their previous generations.

Here are just a few examples from the Mirror Newspapers (UK):

  • Delivery Drivers
  • Butlers- First Robot Butler is already working at a Californian hotel (Aloft).

Did you ever want to create a robot, if so there is a new open source competition titled “Hack the Arduino Robot” currently going on at: RobotChallenge.org

To apply for this competition you need to submit a short description of your project idea (up to 120 words) until the 26th of January responding to the following questions:

  • What would you do with an Arduino Robot?
  • What makes your idea special?
  • What real life problem does your robot solve?
