Chemistry Intern

Position Summary:

The candidate for this position will work with a mentor. This position requires a well-rounded individual that functions well in a team environment, yet is self-motivated and capable of working independently at times. The responsibilities of this position require a general knowledge of chemistry and laboratory formulation techniques.

Position Objectives:

Upon completion of this internship position, successful candidates will learn basic polymeric formulation processes, mechanisms of polymeric reactions, curing techniques, testing and evaluation of the polymer’s physical properties, methods of mechanical testing including tensile, elongation, impact resistance, puncture strength, and tear strength.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Reports to the Director of Research and Development
Provides assistance to his/her mentor in polymer formulation, preparation, and testing Documents processes derived from formulation preparation, cure cycles, and testing. Assists in the interpretation of test results which will be the basis of formulation changes Performs other laboratory duties to ensure progression of multiple simultaneous projects.

 

Education and Experience:

In pursuit of a BS or higher in Chemistry, Material Science, related field
Knowledgeable in the safe handling of chemicals
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and MS Office

All Science Majors

MILSPRAY Military Technologies®, a military defense firm located in Lakewood, NJ, is seeking students in the following disciplines:

  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Environmental Science

Position Summary:

This is a unique opportunity for candidates to collaborate with polymer chemists and engineers throughout the organization in the fields of R&D, Product Development and Engineering. You will apply scientific and engineering principles at various stages of development to include laboratory testing, mathematical analysis, physical testing, research and computer modeling. Interns will assist in the development of new products, testing of prototypes, assist with product improvements, and partake in the testing and evaluation of those products.

Each intern will work up to 29 hours per week with the possibility for permanent hire upon graduation. The internships are located at our corporate headquarters in Lakewood, NJ.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least a Junior in pursuit of BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or science related major
  • Must live within a 45 minute commute of Lakewood, NJ
  • Must be knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Must be capable of working with hand tools, power tools, and light duty machining tools
  • Must have EXCELLENT verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be a US Citizen
