MILSPRAY® was saddened to learn of the recent passing of Robert “Bob” A. Fox. A well-known philanthropist, Fox was a lifelong Philadelphian, successful businessman, and founder of MILSPRAY’s investment company, RAF Industries. He was 91.
Mr. Fox grew up in the Germantown and Mount Airy neighborhoods and graduated from Central High School where he was captain of the football team. He went on to study economics at the University of Pennsylvania and played football there. After his playing days, Fox remained dedicated to the football program and Penn Athletics throughout his life as part of a larger commitment to the University, including a two-story facility named Robert A. Fox Fitness Center.
In addition to his support of athletics at Penn University, Fox also served at various points as Vice Chair of the Board, Chair of the Budget and Finance Committee, and a member of the Executive, Nominating, Facilities and Campus Planning, and Audit and Compliance committees. He was a former member of the Penn Medicine Board, the Governing Board of the Economics Research Institute, and the Agenda for Excellence Council. Fox was awarded the Alumni Award of Merit in 1999.
In 1979, Mr. Fox founded RAF Industries with the acquisition of a lumberyard in Wilmington, Delaware. Today, the list has risen to over twenty companies throughout the United States, including MILSPRAY®.
Fox’s vision behind RAF Industries was development, not buying and selling. RAF strives to build each acquisition into world-class businesses by developing mutually beneficial relationships that lead to superior performance. Their ability to achieve this goal has led to the success of both RAF and our company, MILSPRAY®.
Fox, a pioneer and hard worker, will greatly be missed by the entire MILSPRAY® staff.
